When we first got the camper I was confused by the low charge rate of the solar charger. In bulk it would charge just fine, but when in float — it would let the battery discharge to ~13V before re-entering bulk charging. That is far too low for a camper solar setup.

I found an online discussion regarding the EPEVER Tracer that explained the behavior. The settings are not well optimized for a solar system on a camper, where you want to utilize the sun as much as possible.

Using the Solar Guardian app and the EPEVER BLE RJ45 D adapter (factory installed on my Hero Camper), I connected to the EPEVER Tracer-AN G3 solar charger via Bluetooth. I added the device under Local Connection and set Communication ID Number to 1.

Two settings were set too low: Float Charging Voltage and Bulk Voltage Recovery Voltage. By increasing these I prevent the battery from draining down to 13V before re-entering bulk, and increase the charge during float.

Charging time parameters are located on the Battery Parameters Settings page, the rest on Battery Control Parameter.

When changing battery type from LFP4S to User, all settings must be set manually.

These settings have been running smoothly since April 2026 😎

User manuals:

  1. Bulk Voltage Recovery Voltage is sometimes called Boost Reconnect Voltage in the EPEVER manual. ↩︎

  2. Equalization is harmful to LiFePO4, so disabling it is the safe choice. ↩︎
